I just finished listening to ‘Edge of Eternity’. I’m 74 and walk 5-7 miles or bicycle each day — listening to audiobooks while I walk. I’ve done all the epic novels (and more) and cried through half of this one — I’ve lived through all of this. They marched German POWs past my house every day in Clarinda Iowa during WW11 — they would give me pennies, hollyhocks, candy, etc. and knew my name — often young boys who were no more Nazi than me!) I also always felt that a lot of the ‘political’ and media stuff we were fed (i.e. Reagan being responsible for the Berlin Wall coming down) was BS — thank you for your representations of all this stuff! And of course I could put real names on a bunch of your characters! BTW, I got thru the first 3 epics while walking 7 miles every morning in Singapore several years ago. LOVE your stuff — THANK YOU!

Being an avid reader of your books I would like to say thank you also for the history lessons they contain. Your research is spot on and you weave such great yarns that make your books such a pleasure to read.

Hi Ken, I just finished ‘Edge of Eternity’ completing my reading (actually listening) of all three of your Century Trilogy series. Superb! I have read most of your books loved all of them. I ate up the viewpoints from Germany, the Soviet Union, etc. I’m a big fan of historical fiction. Being an American and a conservative, I did struggle with your slant on American politics. I admit it’s sometimes good to hear another viewpoints, and often re-evaluate my positions when there is new information or I need to adjust thinking as I grow older. But I still felt your treatment of the American political spectrum to be quite one-sided. All the same, I respect your viewpoints and look forward to your next book.

Thanks to you I found that history is not as boring as I remembered it to school. Learning about what has happened in the past really helps to better understand the present. You are a great connoisseur of the human soul, a great and unique writer and I appreciate you very much.

Hello Mr. Follett,
I just discovered your writings in our local library in Sandusky, Ohio, this past fall/winter. I am just completing ‘Triple’. It has been a real search to find all your novels! I have to say, I enjoyed them all! Sometimes, I can’t wait to turn to the page!

This is not something I usually do after finishing a book, but after just completing ‘The Pillars of the Earth’, I felt compelled to reach out.
An absolutely stunning book. Parts had me in tears and other parts left me breathless.
So I just wanted to say ‘Bravo’! I absolutely loved the book and felt like giving you a standing ovation at the end.
You’re a genius. Thank you!

Mr. Follett – My 87-year-old mother takes Senior Ed classes in the Chicago area. She signed up for a class that she thought was about gangsters, but instead turned out to be about gangs and their deadly impact on that town. Along the way they brought in an actual felon to talk to the folks, and one of the things he said was that ‘The Pillars of Earth’, which he discovered in jail, got him through the rough times – and now my mother can’t stop reading your books! It’s amazing. She tries to read them slowly so she can savor the journey, but she ends up burning through them with great emotion! I can’t thank you enough. We are thrilled with this new wrinkle in her life, and from what she’s told me — I am in awe of your talent too.

I cannot thank you enough. As I sit and wipe the tears from my eyes upon finishing ‘The Edge of Eternity’ I can’t help but journey back to my first acquaintance with your work ‘The Man from St Petersburg’. Thank you again and again for all of the hard work you go through to produce such a lovely, enchanting piece of literature.
And thank you, for moving me, particularly this time, in a way that I can’t recall ever experiencing before.
From an avid reader and first time fan mail sender (to anyone), thank you so very much.

First I must say that the Century Trilogy which I have just finished is one of the greatest series of novels I have had the pleasure of reading. I felt drawn into the story as much as I ever have by any book and, frankly, a time or two I was moved to tears. I was especially saddened when it all came to an end.
As a life-long Republican (who is turning more towards liberalism) I did see your politics come through in your stories but as I told my friends, he didn’t tell any lies so…
Again, each book on its own was one of the finest I have ever read. These are the first by you I have ever read (recommended by a stranger) and I can assure you these will not be the last Ken Follett books that will lie on my nightstand.

Just finished ‘Edge of Eternity’. Could hardly put it down. Now I’ll have to re-read the first two books of the Century series to refresh all the details.
Thanks so much for all your work. I’ve been hooked since I first bought ‘Eye of the Needle’ all those years ago.

Up until reading ‘The Pillars of the Earth’ I hadn’t read a book for for 40 years. Once I opened it I had difficulty putting it down. I have now read all of your books and can’t wait for your next. I have not completed which book did you enjoy most because I liked them all. However I do like historical fiction. And I commend your writing style.

Hi Mr. Ken Follett,
I am a sixteen-year-old American boy and I wanted to tell you that I really enjoy your books. Historical fiction is always interesting and I think its fascinating how you illustrate your characters overcoming adversity. I have read many of your stories and you never disappoint. As a young writer myself, I am looking forward to writing my own pieces of historical fiction.
Thank you for the stories and inspiration.
I look forward to your letters. Please write to me via the Contact page, and do see earlier letters…
If you’ve read several of my books, you might enjoy matching the first line with the title, or guessing the working title
